Haitian Christian Outreach

Every ministry faces great challenges and opportunities from time to time!   Haitian Christian Outreach is no different.  There are moments within a given journey when you are called upon to step up and move forward or face certain diminishing opportunities.  We are currently faced with just such a situation in our ministry.   Those opportunities and challenges include the following:

  1. We regularly receive invitations from communities to plant new churches among the Haitian people.  We have currently accepted two of those invitations and are growing a core group of people who will help us start churches among Haitian people in Peredo, Haiti and Providence, Rhode Island.
  2. As our schools have grown, both in size and in reputation, there are increased costs involved in adding new grades each year.  We currently have approximately 1200 students in our schools.
  3. Our current staff has not had a pay raise in more than two years.
  4. There is a great need to expand our medical services.  Teresa Murphy has joined our staff (and has living link support).  But we need to improve the quality of her facility in order to enhance the services she offers.  We also need to open the clinic in Port a Prince, Haiti.

All these things lead us to believe that God is calling us to a significant expansion of our ministry.  In order to accomplish this we will need to manage our resources efficiently.  At the same time, we need to increase our income by more than $5,000 per month during the coming year to meet these challenges.  Please pray for God's provision through His people so we can make this happen!

In Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the Good Samaritan Clinic Port-au-Prince is now complete except for some paiting and finishing work.  Windows are in, some cabinets have been constructed and equipment and supplies for the clinic are on site.  However, due to violence in the neighborhood, we have not been able to open the clinic.

Seguin-Teresa Murphy operates our clinic in Seguin.  She has approximately 13,000 patients.  She sees medical problems Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and conducts dental clinics on Tuesdays.  She currently has a staff consisting of a lay nurse, pharmacy tech and a janitor.  We anticipate making significiant improvements to the facilities in Seguin during 2006.
