Niños de Mexico
"I am writing this at the end of the year. It has been a very exciting year at Niños. We have finally come full circle in our mission work. We have helped three of our young people get started in ministries. We have some who are now on our staff. It is neat to see many of them working in various congregations in the Mexico City area as well as in various parts of Mexico. This past year has been a hard time too. With all of the natural disasters which needed extra help from Christian people, it made it a hard time to ask for that help. Last month, we had the opportunity to take four children whose mother was dying of cancer. Our first thought was, "How can we afford to take them?" The next thought was, "How can we afford not to take them?" They are here! In our board meeting in October, we looked over a budget that is not increased because of a lack of income for this year. We may need to adjust some areas of our outreach, but we are committed to taking care of these children and providing ministry opportunities for them. Our staff did not receive raises for the second year in a row. But, we are able to continue to dream about the future."
"It is truly difficult to imagine the pain of a child who has been abandoned in one way or another. Tears, anger, and fear are just a few emotions that a child must feel. While it may be difficult to imagine these emotions, it is easy to observe the changes that come once a child arrives at Niños de Mexico and becomes a part of a new family. Most begin to smile again within a few weeks.
In November, four new children came to live at Niños de Mexico. Their mother died recently, and they were left without anyone to care for them. Four new students are now living at the Esperanza House and have started classes at the Niños school. It has been incredible to watch as our current children have accepted them into the Niños family."
Colegio Biblico
"The school continues to be a real blessing for our kids. They are learning so much and are able to catch up areas that they were weak in before coming to us. The kids in the colleges and universities are able to complete their assignments with good grades. We have four young people at Colegio Biblico this semester, preparing for specialized areas of ministry.
The Medical Clinic is keeping our kids and staff well. With all of the pollution in Mexico City valley, there are many instances of coughing and allergies, but Dr. Noe is able to take care of them. The outreach in the mountain clinic is going well too. There are not as many people who are physically sick. It is also exciting to note that many are becoming well spiritually. The church which was started there is growing. They have bought some property and are expanding a building to be large enough for their meetings. All of this is being done by the native people and their offerings along with some extra help from our staff and mission."
